Why Motivation Isn’t Magic
Let me tell you a little secret, even athletes and personal trainers don’t always have motivation. Yep, it’s true! Motivation isn’t something magical, it’s something we create.
Here’s how it works: to feel motivated, your brain needs a boost of dopamine (that happy chemical). But here’s the catch you don’t get that dopamine hit until you actually start doing the thing. In this case, it’s exercise.
What to Do When You’re Not Feeling Motivated
If you’re waiting to feel like working out, you’ll be waiting forever. I don’t always have motivation either (shocking, I know!). But what I do have is the habit of showing up. I know if I just start moving, whether it’s putting on my trainers or doing the first stretch, I’ll feel that rush of dopamine kick in, and suddenly it’s easier to keep going.
Why I Train in the Morning
I love working out in the morning because:
1.I get it done before I have a chance to talk myself out of it.
2.That early dopamine hit makes the rest of my day feel amazing.
It’s not always easy to start, but I never regret finishing. That proud, energised feeling is worth every second.
So next time you’re not feeling motivated, don’t stress. Just show up, start small, and let the dopamine do its thing.
